UPDATES and NOTICES
GREAT NEWS!
Friends of Culver City Animals is pleased to announce that on November 10, 2008, the City Council voted to shelter all Culver City pets and wildlife at the SPCA-LA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) shelter in Hawthorne. This shelter is clean, humane and close to Culver City. This is wonderful news for Culver City residents and animals and follows 9 years of lobbying for this change.

As of June 16, 2008, Culver City will join the long list of cities that has its own animal control officer program. We thank and applaud those who championed the hiring of a local animal services officer. They are Councilmembers Gary Silbiger, Christopher Armenta and Micheal O'Leary.
The terms of the vote call for a 2 year pilot program. We are starting out with our own Animal Services Officer and our own vehicle to handle all local animal related issues; however it will be shadowed by LA County until the program develops.
The vote in favor of hiring a Culver City Animal Services Officer is a huge victory for Culver City residents and animals and is in keeping with the growing image of Culver City as a city where quality of life issues are on a par with the wonderful restaurants, art galleries, parks and facilities of our community.
Friends of Culver City Animals pledges its support to our future animal services officer. We want that person to know how much this community appreciates him or her, and we ask that this person receive the dignity and support of other Culver City groups, residents and employees.
As we look to the future we ask our members to continue to support those members of our government who support our goal of local and humane animal services. It is imperative that enlightened, intelligent, and compassionate persons serve our community. To that end, Friends of Culver City Animals will continue its efforts towards supporting members of government and future candidates who demonstrate these values. We have accomplished a great deal, and we are hopeful of accomplishing much more in the future.
Friends of Culver City Animals will keep the public informed about the hiring of the local officer as well as the progress of the program. As always, we value and appreciate your input, and we are prepared to answer your questions 24/7.
