CITY TO SHELTER ANIMALS AT SPCA-LA
INSTEAD OF CARSON-LA COUNTY FACILITY

Following the enormous support from Council members and residents, on Monday, November 10, 2008, the City Council voted to have Culver City pets and wildlife sheltered at the SPCA-LA shelter located at 12910 Yukon Avenue, Hawthorne, California 90250.  This shelter is close to Culver City and is an extremely clean, well-run, low-kill shelter.  Culver City contracted with the SPCA from 1974-1999, so the move will be a positive switch back to humane and efficient service.

The vote on November 10, 2008 was a 5-0 vote in favor of the move to the SPCA Hawthorne shelter for our pets and wildlife.  The public will be notified as to when the actual change from the LA County Carson facility over to the SPCA shelter will take effect, and all relevant information will be made available on this website. This change is great news for Culver City residents and animals and offers a future for Culver City’s lost, stray, injured and abandoned pets and wildlife!
